The CVJC was founded by Bruce Hering. He has led jazz groups for 29 years, and they have garnered many awards, including Best Band Honors at jazz fests across the Midwest, with 7 performances at the prestigious Essentially Ellington Festival at New York’s Lincoln Center, being named “One of America’s Best Jazz Bands” in 2009. His bands have played with the Basie Band, Maynard Ferguson, Clark Terry, The Tonight Show All-stars and played in venues from Chicago to New Orleans.

COST – 2011 Session
Fees: $150. $50 deposit is due with the application and $50 due first day of camp. Deposit is nonrefundable. Registration guaranteed if deposit is received by June 17th. After June 17th, spots are first-come, first-served.

AUDITIONS
Students will be placed in the appropriate level jazz groups based on a short tryout. Material for this tryout will be provided at that site. Students do not need to prepare anything for the tryout, as it will be based on the student’s current knowledge.

ACCEPTANCE
The camp will limit the number of each instrument allowed into the camp for balance purposes. While some parts may be doubled, the camp director will determine when any instrument or section has filled. Applicants will be accepted until then.

The Chippewa Valley Jazz Camp is located at Eau Claire Regis High School, 2100 Fenwick Ave. in Eau Claire, WI. Park in the back of the school and enter through door #5.
