Registration:
Pre-registration for the Chippewa Valley Jazz camp is done via the mail.
To guarantee registration, send in by May 30th. Any registrations
after that date will be on a
first come-first served basis, as the camp may fill up. Students will complete their
registration at noon on Monday July 21 in the Memorial HS Jazz Orchestra
Room.
Directions: The Chippewa Valley Jazz Camp is located at Eau Claire Memorial, 2225 Keith Street. Turn into the parking lot on the South side of the building (located between Clairemont Ave and MHS). Enter Door 19. Materials for camp: Bring your instrument, a notebook and a pencil. Dress is summer casual. Auditions: Students will be placed in the appropriate level jazz groups based on a short tryout. Material for this tryout will be provided at that site. Students do not need to prepare anything for the tryout, as it will be based on the student's current knowledge. Fees: the total cost of the camp is $150 per student. $50 non-refundable deposit is due with the application form, and the remaining $100 is due immediately upon arrival at the camp. All deposits made by May 30 are guaranteed. After May 30, spots may be filled at the camp; camp is first come- first served after that date. Acceptance: The camp will limit the number of each instrument allowed into the camp for balance purposes. While some parts may be doubled, the camp director will determine when any instrument or section has filled. Applicants will be accepted until that point in time. Medical Form: located here. The medical information and release form must be signed by the parents. This should list any drugs their student is currently taking, any medical conditions/allergies, their insurance company and policy number and permission to transport their child in case of emergency. Upon check-in, the parents will be asked to update this form, if necessary. Parents should also talk to their child about proper camp behavior prior to the camp. Staff: See Biographies below. Bruce Hering will direct the camp, assisted by some of the best area music educators, and Music Education Majors from the nationally acclaimed award-winning UWEC Jazz program.
